COME MY WAY
Treyan Porter

It’ll come my way, I fooled myself to think I was ok
But I walked away, and now my demons are fading more each day
What can I say, in this state of mind would you listen anyway
     And come my way

She spent most her life padding her enormous pride
Worked up the ladder ‘til the money fell right in
And there were casualties, peoples lives ruined to please
Her own ambition in this dog-eat-dogged fight

In these expensive clothes and the snow dust up her nose
Here she sits all alone with the weighted sin
Now she sees the cost, no one to love and all she lost
But then a voice says, you can make it right

It’ll come my way, I fooled myself to think I was ok
But I walked away, and now my demons are fading more each day
What can I say, in this state of mind would you listen anyway
And come my way, and come my way

With the bottle in his hand, and needles there on the nightstand
In his swollen mind he tried to course through his life
Looking for a happy thought or gentle touch, from love, not bought
Some place or time he could rest his soul upon

He dropped down to his knees, said, I’m sorry, and help me please
And wiped the tears away from his blood shot eyes
Then he heard a melody rise over his infirmity
And a voice was saying, you are not all gone

It’ll come my way, I fooled myself to think I was ok
But I walked away, and now my demons are fading more each day
What can I say, in this state of mind would you listen anyway
And come my way, and come my way

When something deep inside says this ain’t me
There’s some place higher I’m supposed to be
You’ve got to give it up, walk away
Turn it off, and starting today
You’ve got to throw it out, or flush it away
And soon you’ll find you’ll be able to say
          It’ll come my way

And now I’m higher, and I’m higher, I’m higher, higher
          Hallelujah

What can I say, in this state of mind would you listen anyway
