This is one of those few songs that developed overnight, literally. With the exception of the instrumental piano part in the middle, this song was written throughout the course of one night. This is rare for me. Even if the bulk of a song happens to come to me fairly quick, I usually push the song around and make changes or additions to it, for weeks, months, or even years, until it is just right. But on rare occasion, a song will just seem to flow right out of me. And it is an exhilarating and surreal experience.

Now concerning the meaning of this song. Although it has a specific meaning to me, I want to leave it up to the listener to interpret what the song means to them. Needless to say, it is probably the most forlorn and tragic song I have ever written.

FALL
Treyan Porter

We broke today
A billion faces have gone away
And it feels like thunder crashing through my pain
We lost so many, such a waste
Will I remember love that way?

     I saw the angel fall
And I never felt so small

I saw His tears
What’s this I’m feeling now after a million years?
This place is different now, what am I doing here?
So many questions about my doubts, about my anger
And all my fears

You can’t come back
You can’t come back
You can’t come back
You can’t come back
You can’t come back
You can’t come back
You can’t come back

     Because we’re moving on
I guess they say we’ve won

We broke today
